This idea of decorated chocolate stirring spoons has been around for quite some time, but every single time I see it I just fall in love with it again so I had to share it with ya’ll! Imagine chocolate with orange sprinkles for a Halloween Party? Chocolate with pink nonpareils for a Tea Party or White Chocolate with red candies for Christmas? White chocolate with white sanding sugar for a wedding? Sweet ideas like this one that can be adapted for almost any party or celebration are my absolute favorite. You could even pipe a monogram on the spoon. Or tie a cute ribbon on the base of it. See? So many options with this simple idea.
Look how ornate this one is?! Like a work of art…
So want to try your hand at making them? They’re SIMPLE! Here is what you will need…
- 12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate or white chocolate (or milk chocolate, you get the idea)
- 40 Plastic Spoons
- Microwaveable bowl
- Vegetable Oil
- Wax Paper
- Sprinkles, nonpareils, decorative candies. Check out Layer Cake Shop, Bake It Pretty+ Sweet! Baking Supply for lots of sweet candies.
- For gifting, I love buying cellophane bags from Nashville Wraps.
Melt chocolate in microwavable (glass preferable) bowl for 1 minute. Stir. Continue heating at 30 second intervals until smooth. Pour in 2 tablespoons vegetable oil and stir. Dip spoons in chocolate. For a clean look as seen above take another spoon and pour melted chocolate into spoon. Decorate with sprinkles + candies. Freeze or refrigerate to harden. All Done!
If giving as a gift, place in long cellophane bag and tie with a bow! A bag of stirring spoons and Hot Chocolate: 50 Heavenly Cups of Comfort would be a fabulous combo! I went to a cooking class with the author, Fred Thompson. He’s from my hometown (Raleigh/Durham, NC), and the hot chocolate we tested was unbelievable. I always make a few varieties around the holidays.
