This year for the Oscars, I’m inviting some girlfriends over and fully indulging in all things red carpet, Hollywood glam, and of course – party sips and snacks! I thought many of you might be watching the Oscars and perhaps even having a little party of your own so I’m sharing my top tips for an Oscars Viewing Party!
OSCARS VIEWING PARTY | TIPS & TRICKS
- Champagne! While you and your friends might not be nominated for an Oscar yourselves, you can still celebrate. Any excuse to drink champagne is a good one in my book. The official champagne of the Oscars is Piper-Heidsieck. They so graciously sent over a few bottles to enjoy at my own viewing party. The bright red color is perfect for the occasion! I’m also serving up wine for those who prefer it, specifically Francis Ford Coppola wine (it has Director’s Cut on the label, so perfect)!
- Food! Popcorn is just a must for any viewing parties, in my opinion. We’re upping the ante with white truffle cheddar popcorn. I also displayed my favorite Lindt chocolates and for Sunday night, I’ll be putting out a few heavier appetizers too. I’m thinking mini spinach and artichoke tarts (I’ll have to share this recipe soon), pimento cheese toast cups (recipe in my book out this fall), and perhaps a few others. I highly recommend a popcorn bar and favorite movie snacks too. Keep it fun and festive!
- Decor! I’m keeping it simple and using my coffee table as the “holding place” for all the food and treats. It keeps it easy and within reach for all my gal pals. You could easily use a console table or wheel up a bar cart for the same effect. A simple black and white striped paper runner from Hester & Cook topped with a gold tray makes the perfect base for all the party pretties. White roses add a fancy finish!
- Fun! While everyone will be watching and sipping, it’s still fun to have a little something else to do during the evening. You can find lots of “Oscars Bingo” printables online which are easy to print and hand out to your guests. My friend Eden of Sugar & Charm just posted her 2017 Oscars Ballot Printable which I’ll also be printing for Sunday evening!
So tell me, are you hosting an Oscars Viewing Party? For the record, getting the babies off to bed and sitting down on the couch with your husband absolutely counts as a viewing party in my book. So even if you’re not having lots of friends over, treat yourself with champagne and treats. You deserve it!
