Have a little artist? Throw a LITTLE PICASSO ART PARTY like Danielle Arcese of Cutie Putti Paperie! As an art major, she was excited to design and create a super bright (and super cute!) art themed dessert table. She incorporated tie dye, paint splatters, scribbles, paint cans, rollers, colored pencils + more!
COLORFUL GRADIENT BACKDROP
“The colorful gradient backdrop was so easy and inexpensive to create. I purchased rolls of crepe paper streamers in 2 shades of each color. I cut long enough sections to drape and cover my entire back drop, rolled each strip up and cut tons of small slits on each side . Once unrolled each strip was a colorful fringy dream :-) I taped all of the streamers on the back drop in a gradient pattern. I loved this backdrop it was colorful, super cheap and easy to make, and brought all the details of this table together.” – Danielle of Cutie Putti Paperie
PAINT CAN CENTERPIECES
“For the centerpiece bases I used two clear paint cans and filled them with colorful Mike & Ikes layered in a rainbow pattern. It took a little while to go through all the candy and separate them in color groups, but it was well worth the time, the layered effect looked great as a base to hold my centerpiece sticks in place.”
SWEET PICASSO PARTY TREATS
“Fun artsy sweet treats included “Paint Ball” cake pops, made by the talented cakerellas at Frost the Cake Bakeshop. I displayed them on a white plastic painters palette bought at an art supply store. I thought the individual round paint cups of the palette were a match made in heaven for these perfectly round chocolate painted cake pops! Also at the art store I was excited to find mini easels that I displayed all of the treat labels on.
Other sweets included old fashioned wax bottles labeled “squirt paints” , Chocolate covered pretzel rod “Paint Brushes”, Old fashioned jumbo candy dot “Paint Blobs”, rainbow colored Twizzlers, and tie dye cupcakes swirled with vanilla frosting and topped with a sugar crayon.
Sweet lemonade was served tinted in a rainbow of colors, and a bundle crayon colored swizzle sticks were handed out as favors.
I looooved art class as a kid, and styling this dessert table brought me right back to that time of white smocks, messy paints, and an unlimited imagination!”
