Old-Fashioned Lemonade

Old Fashioned Lemonade

This weekend, I’m working on the design for a boy’s baby shower, and we are going to serve fresh lemonade for guests. I wanted to share this recipe with you as it’s perfect for a spring or summer party!

Old-Fashioned Lemonade

1 cup water
1 cup sugar
Peel of 1 lemon
Juice of 6 lemons
Sliced lemons, limes and fresh mint for garnish

In a small saucepan, bring water and sugar to a boil, add peel, and simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from heat, let sit to bring to room temperature.  Strain peel from liquid.  In a 2 quart pitcher, add lemon juice, 1/2 of sugar water, 5 cups of water – and taste.  Add in rest of sugar water to taste.  Serve with fresh lemon and lime slices topped with a mint garnish!
tips:Place lemons in microwave for 5 to 10 seconds to easily squeeze juice.  Double recipe for larger parties (this lemonade will go fast!)

SUMMER IS HERE! YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS… Had our first workout + yoga session on the beach here in Newport the other day. I know, doesn’t that sound amazing? I am SO grateful to live here. Am a NYC transplant after 9/11!

Lemonade for all my kids and visitors this summer!

Using simple syup infused with mint leaves instead of sugar is also very good! Just put fresh mint in the simple syup once all of the sugar has dissolved and you take it off the heat to cool. Remove the mint before serving! So good!
