Spooky Adult Halloween Party & Halloween Menu

I’ve had a bit of a love affair with buffalo check lately (see the napkins in this backyard party) so when I spotted these orange and black buffalo check napkins, this adult halloween party idea was formed.

A lot of people ask me where I get the inspiration for my parties (and for party theme ideas), well there is an example. Sometimes it’s something as simple as a patterned napkin that I bring to life on a table!

Halloween Party & Halloween Dinner Menu

There are lots of kids party ideas for Halloween but not a ton of adult or grown-up ideas, so I wanted to give you a little inspiration to throw a Halloween dinner party!

Why not? Grab your friends over, make some spooky foods and drinks (my Halloween menu is below), and dress up while you’re at it!

Halloween Table Coverings

Love the look? Start with a basic dining table (I used my brown farm table). Layer it with a black cloth covering similar to this one.

I added on a thin layer of stretchy spider web as well. It’s so cheap to buy and adds such a spooky feel to the tablescape. You can add it to nearby trees, potted plants, doorways, etc.

Halloween Place Settings

Now that you have your base covering, it’s on to the place settings! I layered black plates with calligraphy word plates (from Grandin Road). They are my favorite. I’m keeping these out to use all season. They have different sayings.

  • Let’s Get Wicked
  • Sit for a Spell
  • I’m Here for the Boos (my personal favorite)
  • The Witch is In

Underneath were the buffalo check napkins. If you have an option, order up and use extras to fill bowls for rolls or layer a tray for favors, etc. This helps tie in the pattern throughout your party.

Next up, black wine glasses! There is something spooky yet chic about drinking from black wine glasses. They’re so fun! Everyone always compliments on them when I bring them out!

The black and gold flatware is a new find (from Amazon, thank you free shipping)! I also have this set in the white/gold as well. The price on it varies so just check this link to see what the current price is.

I added in black, white, and orange taper candles to brass candle holders. The little skulls are actually styrofoam and found at Michael’s for $1.99 each. This is such an inexpensive little detail to add.

There you have it! I hope you’re inspired to throw your own adult Halloween Party!

Let’s chat food. By no means do you have to set a Halloween tablescape and serve all Halloween-themed foods. Gracious. Life is busy.

But you could pick one idea (or just serve regular food favorites). It’s okay!

I just want to provide you with a solid list to select from. Sound good?

Many of these recipes (minus the cocktails) are great for kids too, but I wanted to focus on adults for this party!

  1. I love it! Here in France we don’t find most stuff about Halloween and it’s very sad because I love Halloween! Last year we traveled in Boston and we visited Salem for Halloween. My daughter was so happy because she loves spooky things like me. :-)
