Where are the official rules to this promotion? Who can enter? can someone under 18 enter? Is it open to US only? did you file for and obtaining bonds in states that require them? If not you need to declare the promotion void in those states.? you do realize it’s illegal in Canada (the winner can not be chosen by luck in Canada, but rather some element of skill must be involved. And if you do wish to open your giveaway to residents of Canada, you must go one step further and either exclude Quebec or add in the various additional rules that province requires) , are you complying with the laws of every jurisdiction (including those of foreign countries)? You don’t say HOW the winner will be selected, is it random? how will technical issues be handled? double entries? what if your site goes down and people can’t enter? Who is responsible for this giveaway? who can be contacted? who will send out the proper tax documents to the winner a value of $600 or more must be reported to the Internal Revenue Service. You should also state that the winner will be responsible for all taxes on the winnings. Where can an entry be mailed in? It’s illegal to run a sweepstake without a way for everyone to enter (without social media accounts). There is a lot of potential for civil and/or criminal violations here to each blogger involved.
