{Giveaway} Donuts & Doilies Birthday Party
Photography by Todd Studios Photography
This darling birthday party was submitted by Jeannie Gearin and it is so unique and fun! Jeannie worked with Linnette from PaperGlitter and they really were a great team! Together they worked together to incorporate the paper goods into the desserts that Jeannie baked and decorated. I know Jeannie’s daughter Molly must have LOVED this birthday! And if you like the printables you see above, read on below and see what we are giving away!
Jeannie made all of the baked goods, and they all look fabulous! My favorite is the dipped rice crispy treats, the donut shaped cookies, and of course the star of the party which was the mini frosted donuts! And of course the table setting was beautiful as well! Each guest had a fun floral plate and checked flatware. Vintage napkins and miniature carnations added a splash of color around the fondant covered birthday cake that Molly requested. Jeannie had so many tasty baked goods that each guest got to take home tiny boxes with donuts to go, and they filled larger white bags with candy and cookies to take home as favors as well!
Want to try making your own doughnuts? Jeannie shares her Buttermilk Donut recipe and decorating glaze recipe with Pizzazzerie readers below!
Buttermilk Donuts
1½ cups cake flour 2/3 cup buttermilk, room temperature
½ cup granulated sugar 1 egg
1 ½ teaspoons baking powder 2 tablespoons butter, melted
½ teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Preheat oven to 375 F. Coat 3 miniature donut pans with nonstick cooking spray. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients.
- In a small bowl, beat together the milk, eggs, butter, and vanilla.
- Add the liquid mixture into the flour mixture and stir until no large lumps remain.
- Pour batter into a large disposable pastry bag and cut a one inch hole. Fill about halfway full with batter.
- Bake for 8 – 10 minutes until the batter has risen and springs back when touched. Cool in pan for a few minutes and then turn out onto a wire rack. Frost when completely cooled.
Makes 36 miniature donuts
Colorful Glaze
1 pound powdered sugar, plus 1 cup 1/3 cup corn syrup
1/3 cup milk 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- In a medium saucepan, stir powdered sugar and milk over low heat until smooth.
- Add corn syrup and extract, stir. Remove from heat.
- Divide into separate bowls and add desired food colors.
- Place in disposable pastry bags and cut a small hole. Decorate donuts.
