BACK TO COLLEGE Going Away Party

This “BACK TO COLLEGE” themed party submitted by 5-9 Events brought us back to the days of college classes, freshman dorms, ordering pizza, and pesky exams! We love all the college-themed touches from the student handbook invitation to the amazing take-out food cake! WOW! Deanna of 5-9 Events used RED, BLACK, + WHITE as the “school colors” and set up the table as a college dorm room “bed”. How clever?! She set up the party to look like a dorm room “smack dab in the middle of midterms” and that she did with textbooks and notecards and a “lapdesk cake stand”. LOVE IT!

Brandon Lee created the cute invite to look like a student handbook. Deanna created the ‘table of contents’ with fake topics – some of them submitted by her Facebook fans! And the food tags were made to look like student IDs! So neat!

Deanna kept the food + desserts simple and college-themed! So of course pizza, takeout food, snacks out of a care package from mom, cupcakes and cake were on the menu. The “college cake” was made by Tutu Cute Cakes by Ebony. Deanna gave her total creative freedom and what she came up with was awesome, and perfect for this theme! We love it!

The beverages were Red Bull, Frappuccino (usually consumed for those all-nighters, or before early morning classes!) and water. They were set up in a collapsible laundry hamper, found in almost every dorm room!

Deanna created the ‘good luck’ banner using scrapbook paper and she created the painting  using this tutorial on Oh Happy Day as a guide.  Deanna said, “I got the print that says ‘Be in the business of being awesome’ from Joy’s Hope. It just seemed like a classic saying you’d find taped in someone’s dorm room!”
