Host an Oscar Party: Invites & Cocktails {2011 Edition}
Host an Oscars Party
The Oscars are just a couple of weeks away. This year, the Oscars will air on Sunday, February 27th. The nominees are out so it’s time to get some red-carpet worthy tips for this glamorous evening. This year, I’m throwing a super fun Oscar Viewing Party sponsored by Orville Redenbacher so stay tuned! This is just the first of several Oscar Party Posts, we’ll show you everything from cocktails to desserts and decor! And after our party, we’ll have a giveaway you won’t want to miss!
Let’s get started with Invitations! The swoon-worthy Twig & Thistle created this DIY Free Oscar Invitations!
Would you rather buy an invite already made? No problem! These two options from Tiny Prints are perfect! And if you’re a new customer to Tiny Prints, then use code AFF1105 for 10% off on orders $49+.
Fabulous cocktails are a must for an Oscar viewing party. Greet your guests at the door and show them the cocktail bar. Consider a signature drink or offer up several choices! Here are a few we are excited to mix up this year!
Red Carpet Fizz
3 oz champagne
1/2 oz Grand Marnier orange liqueur
1/2 oz lime juice
2 oz orange juice
Pour champagne, liqueur, and juices into champagne glass. Garnish with maraschino cherry or orange slice. Add some pizzazz and consider rimming the champagne glasses in red sanding sugar. You can often find sanding sugar in the baking aisle of a craft store, but you can also buy it online here at Sweet! Baking Supply.
1 1/2 oz Black Raspberry liqueur
1 ounce tequila
1/2 oz amaretto liqueur
Shake tequila and amaretto with ice. Strain into chocolate rimmed martini glass. Shake black raspberry liqueur with ice and layer into martini glass.

1/2 oz lime juice
2 oz sprite
green sanding sugar, for rimming
apple slice, for garnish
Shake apple juice, lime juice, and sprite and strain into cocktail or low-ball glass, rimmed with sanding sugar. Garnish with apple slice!
Cocktail Drink Tags
Now that you have your cocktail recipes, you’ll need some fun drink tags for the glasses! Hostess With the Mostess created these modern and chic printables – and they’re free! So strut over and check out the whole line!
Plates & Napkins has our favorite “Directors’ Cut” style party decor that is oh so perfect for an Oscars party! I will be placing an order for these for my own party this year! These also keep clean-up easy and fast.
Stay tuned for upcoming Oscar Posts for more viewing party details!

great party idea, but how do you edit the invites?
Hi Merium! I would use photoshop or some other editing software. It might be a bit tricky but perhaps this would give you inspiration for creating a simple one in word, photoshop, or publisher!
Good news, we’ve updated the post with this year’s dates from Twig & Thistle so click over to their site and you’ll see! :)
