How to Make a Cute Candy Bouquet

Summertime is in full swing, and I always love finding simple ways to make someone’s day a little sweeter. This candy bouquet is colorful, easy to customize, and such a fun gift to put together. Fill it with favorite candies, tie on a ribbon, and you’ve got an adorable handmade gift that’s perfect for birthdays, celebrations, or just because.

What You Need to Make a Candy Bouquet

Here’s what you need to create your own.

• Candy.  (Lots of it!)

 I used three different types of candy for this bouquet.  The first is boxed candy (the kind that you can get at the movie theater).  This will be your base for the bouquet. The second kind of candy is what I like to call “tall & supportive.”  Try to find candies that are sturdy and at least 4-5 inches long.  Things like rolls of hard candies, candy bars, and king-sized packages work really well!  Lastly, you’ll need small filler candy.  I used fruit-flavored Tootsie Rolls, Smarties & Pixie Sticks.

• A Styrofoam block
• Paper Filler
• Wooden skewers
• Your trusty hot glue gun
• A pair of sharp scissors

How to Make a Candy Bouquet: Step-by-Step

1. Using your hot glue gun, attach the boxed candy to the sides of the Styrofoam block and hold the boxes tightly against the block until the glue is set.  (I snagged this floral foam in the craft section at Dollar Tree.  (I *did* have to glue the pieces together to give it the height I needed, but it was easy.  I promise!)

2. Next, grab a handful of the paper filler and place it inside the “vase” you’ve made using the candy boxes and foam block.  This adds a little pop of color and hides the foam block.

3. Start placing your large, sturdy candy into the base.  For the lollipops, I just inserted the sticks.  For the “stickless” candies, I used a dab of hot glue to attach the package to a wooden skewer.  This helped add height and support.

4. Next, you’ll want to start attaching the filler candies to more wooden skewers.  For softer candies, you can simply insert the pointed end of the skewer carefully into the candy (leave the wrapper on!).  For hard candies, you can use a tiny piece of scotch tape wrapped around the candy & skewer to keep it attached.

5. Using the “filler” candy (I used Tootsie Rolls, Smarties & Pixie Sticks), start placing the candy skewers evenly throughout the bouquet.  Keep adding candy until your bouquet is nice and full.

6. Last, but certainly not least– add some extra cuteness to the bouquet by wrapping ribbon around the boxes of candy and tying a bow in the front.  (A bow makes everything a little bit cuter, doesn’t it?!)
