Hold Your Horses and grab some Lavender Mint Juleps, y’all! It’s time for a little Derby party inspiration and a darling free cocktail card you can print for your own party. Here’s the back story to this little display! Above my desk I have 3 southern gold-foiled prints from Stephanie Creekmur. I happen to think she hung the moon and was at the front of the line when God handed out creative talent. Truly! So we decided that the “Hold Your Horses” print is Derby decor at its finest. So I whipped up a little mini-table to show you how you could invite your friends over (or head to the races in tailgate form) and enjoy the Derby! Or if you’re in Nashville, TN like I am – it’s Steeplechase! Whatever your favorite race may be called, here’s a little party inspiration…+ a free printable too!

Lavender is infused in the mint juleps (delish) but it also provided me with my color inspiration. Royal purple striped straws, lilac in petite vases, and a lavender cake stand all provided touches of purple elegance to this sweet display. I love pulling out an ingredient or small detail to drive the hues in a party set-up! It really ties everything together and here, I loved using purple!
If you ever see simple glass bottles, pick them up (or grab them online here)! They’re perfect for serving water (or more cocktails) and sometimes, they fit right into your color scheme. I also used an old rustic horseshoe from my Grandfather (thanks to Mom for bringing it to me!) for a little table decoration! Spray painted gold horses added a whimsical touch and a petite vase holding a four-leaf clover was a final touch of luck!
