Ruffles and Roses Second Birthday Party!

Ruffles and Roses Girl Birthday Party

Reader Emily Felts was inspired by all things GIRLY + PINK for her daughter’s “Ruffles & Roses 2nd Birthday Party“. Being girly girls ourselves, this is right up our alley. We’re smitten! The rosette hanging poms are absolutely darling and a nice twist to the common tissue paper pom-poms. I also love the pink roses. My Mom always incorporated baby pink roses into my own birthday parties growing up – such a sweet addition! And check out that darling ruffle cake? It has it’s own bunting banner – super cute! Emily used pink streamer paper to make individual paper roses to glue onto 8″ styrofoam balls creating rose pomanders. The white poms are made out of baking cups pinned onto styrofoam balls. How clever is that?! What a neat DIY element!

She served cake pops, cupcakes, sugar cookies and a ruffle buttercream cake.  The cupcake pedestals are made out of wood rounds glued to short wood candlesticks, both found at a local craft store.

“The accordion banner with my daughter’s name was made out of pages from an antique book.  I love the distressed colors of the book’s pages.  Favor bags were held together with small white doilies and homemade barrettes.” – Emily Felts

For the savory foods, Emily served mini chicken salad croissants, individual fruit and yogurt parfaits, and turkey and cheese sandwiches served in individual mini lunch boxes! Mini mason jars were used for pink lemonade.  Instead of having the mason jar silver lid, she replaced it with a piece of pink laminated paper and punched a small hole through the top for a straw – these were a hit!
