A Secret Garden Themed 1st Birthday

Secret Garden Themed Party

The minute Melita Green knew she was having a little girl, she knew she wanted to have a Secret Garden themed first birthday party!  “I loved The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett when I was little girl.  To get ideas, I watched the movie and then reread the illustrated book, ” Melita shared. She enlisted her dear friend Vanessa Contreras to help pull all her thoughts and ideas together. “She is fantastic into organizing items quickly and where to place, I love coming up with the concept and doing the purchases and have some ideas in my head of  what I want to see then together we make it happen!” We’re smitten over this darling party, see all the photos below (and party details below)!

Secret Garden Themed Party Details

Melita wanted bright colors for this darling first birthday party. She opted for a palette of fuschia, orange, and yellow. Fresh flowers strung on fishing wire hung from her backyard plants and tent. The flowers looked as if they were floating, and it was stunning! I wanted the colors to be bright: so fuschia, orange and yellow dominated the color scheme.

She put her focus on the main party table where she added several DIY elements including a spray painting several foam chandeliers in gorgeous gold! To create the look of this extra long table, she pushed several 6 foot tables together and topped with a special made 18 foot tablecloth. This is also what I did for my own daughter’s 1st birthday party! So if you like the look of a long table, this is a great tip!

Dessert included cookies ‘n cream flavored birthday cake, a small coconut cake, cupcakes, macarons, sugar cookies, and cotton candy! Wow, now that’s a sweet party! ;)

For activities, children decorated their own flower pots and even got to have their silhouettes made. I love the look of silhouettes and what a special treat for all the party guests!
