Celebrate the end of summer with an at-home bonfire night celebration and a fall s’mores board!
As we wrap up summer and look towards fall and the arrival of a new little baby joining the family, I’ve been rejuvenated by the simple joys in life. While we can’t host large parties at this time or do lots of traveling, we can still enjoy celebrations in creative ways. A backyard bonfire night stargazing on cozy blankets as a family is exactly what we needed to rejuvenate before we head into a new season of life.
As a Yankee Candle Ambassador, I had the privilege of enjoying their new Bonfire Nights collection. The fall fragrances inspired my at-home bonfire night along with a fall s’mores board to enjoy while stargazing. Sharing sweet treats and enjoying this cozy time together has been good for our hearts!
The Bonfire Nights Collection Fragrances include Warm and Cozy, A Night Under the Stars, Crisp Campfire Apples, Autumn Embers, Pecan Pie Bites, and Whipped Pumpkin Spice.
I was inspired by A Night Under the Stars and Crisp Campfire Apples while planning our family bonfire night!
A Night Under the Stars is my favorite fragrance from the Bonfire Nights collection. It’s woody and spicy with touches of rose and leather. It reminds me of sitting around a campfire with friends in the mountains of North Carolina where I went to camp each summer as a kid. This fragrance is absolutely magical!
While I love traditional s’mores boards, the fragrance notes of apple, clove and cinnamon in the Crisp Campfire Apples inspired me to give my s’mores board a fall/apple twist! I added mini apple pies and lots of fresh apples. Who knew apple slices are absolutely fabulous with chocolate and marshmallows? It reminded me of a gourmet candy apple!
Create Your Own Fall S’mores Board
You can bring your own s’mores board to life with your own favorite fall flavors. For mine, I intertwined traditional s’mores must-haves like chocolate and marshmallows with lots of apple touches.
- Graham Crackers
- Cookies (sugar cookies, chocolate chip cookies, etc)
- Dips & Spreads (Cast Iron S’mores Dip, Nutella, Peanut Butter)
- Chocolate (chocolate bars, peanut butter cups, etc)
- Pretzels and Chocolate-Covered Pretzels
- Mini Apple Pies
- Apple Slices
I arranged all the goodies on a few wood boards and slabs. Extra goodies were tucked into baskets too. If you’re having neighbors over, consider creating mini s’mores baskets for them to take home and enjoy – or drop them off as a sweet neighborly “happy” gift.
My family has a fire pit on our patio where we toasted up lots of yummy marshmallows. Then we headed to our cozy blanket for some s’more building and stargazing! Even if you don’t have a fire pit, you can make your own s’mores on a baking sheet and bring them right outside to enjoy.
Grab you favorite fall-colored blankets and throw pillows to create a cozy atmosphere for your at-home bonfire night!
I’m often asked what inspires my party ideas, celebrations, tablescapes and more. Just about anything, including candles and fragrances! I loved weaving in navy colors along with the apple touches. I encourage you to celebrate the late summer nights with an at-home bonfire (or perhaps a virtual bonfire with friends around the country).
I’m so thankful for these new memories under the stars with family. The extra time outdoors is good for the soul, especially with a s’more in hand, right? :) I hope you’re inspired to celebrate fall with simple joys like heading outside under the starry skies.
