There are endless combinations for designing tablescapes, and I view a table a bit like a blank canvas. I wanted to share 6 place settings and why I love each setting to help inspire your own tablescapes. You’ll also find a few links to current sets similar to those seen below.
Quick note: If you don’t have a copy of my book Pizzazzerie: Entertain in Style, then click here because it’s full of my all-time favorite tablescapes along with matching DIYs and over 50 recipes for year-round entertaining!
Simple White & Gold
Some of my favorite dinnerware sets are simply white and gold. I love a touch of gold detailing because it adds a touch of fancy to your place settings. You can easily dress it up or down and tailor it to every holiday or occasion. In addition to plates, you can add in serving trays, tea cups and saucers, and other coordinating pieces to create the perfect set! Here is my favorite simple white and gold set.
Pastels Add Whimsy
Pastels are back on trend and not just for Easter! Add a set of pastel salad plates to your repertoire and you might just find yourself pulling them out time and time again to create gorgeous place settings! As you see above, I love using pastel dinnerware for occasions like brunch birthday parties! Host a pancake celebration complete with candles too! It’s also fun to mix and match colors so don’t box yourself in! Get creative!
Citrus is a trend that isn’t going anywhere anytime soon! Dozens of dinnerware companies are continuing to come out with new citrus plates and accessories. Williams Sonoma has a gorgeous Meyer Lemon Collection that is just lovely! I also love these melamine plates (great for outdoors). They’re perfect for all types of spring and summer gatherings. Stay on theme and serve citrus drinks and foods as well!
As you can see above, simple white dinnerware is never a bad option to have on hand! I recommend all newlyweds register for a basic white dinnerware set because it’s chic and versatile! Keep it casual or fancy it up! A large white dinner plate is also a great base for more festive, patterned appetizer plates!
Like I mentioned above, I love to add in patterned appetizer or dessert plates! They’re usually more affordable because they’re smaller than a dinner plate but they work perfectly for breakfast or lunch gatherings. For dinner, just place it on top of a white dinner plate! Polka dot dinnerware is adorable and festive for birthdays and other celebratory occasions! Kate Spade always has a great line of polka dot plates. A set of patterned dinnerware is the perfect gift for someone who loves to throw parties!
Take the Party Outside
When it comes to dinnerware, we are often talking china or porcelain. Don’t forget about melamine dinnerware! It’s perfect for outdoor occasions as it’s non-breakable so set up a gorgeous tablescape by the pool with your melamine dinnerware! You can find a plethora of fabulous colors and designs! Many of them have nautical touches which is perfect for the summer season.
