GRADUATION PARTY DETAILS

The foundation of this party’s design inspiration was black and white typography. We fell in love with these amazingly bold poster prints from Minted and decided to incorporate the design concept throughout the party.

The first nod to typography was noted with the 11×14 framed sign at the party’s entrance reading, Be the Best Version of Yourself which we felt paired perfectly with our request for guests to leave words of wisdom and encouragement. As guests entered the home, they were encouraged to leave write notes for the graduate using Minted’s “Cheers” cards; the perfect size for collecting in the clear glass apothecary jar adorned with a gold graduation tassel. Proudly displayed for guests to view at the party’s entrance was Marley’s framed graduation announcement.

The dessert table’s backdrop was a 30×40 framed typography poster reading, I Don’t Know Where I am Going But I’m On My Way, which seemed perfectly fitting for a soon-to-be high school graduate heading off to a college. A DIY painted globe accented in gold also boasted typography, this time with a bold statement, Choose your Own Adventure. After all, high school graduates leaving home for their first time are often now choosing their own paths.

The dessert table’s centerpiece was this simple, yet elegant 2-tier white cake accented with paper flowers pulled from the Minted Sparkle Everywhere collection. These wine coasters were molded into cones, accented with 1” black sparkle pom poms and used as modern floral accents along one side of this all-white cake. Chocolate cupcakes with white icing and simple black & white sprinkles were displayed on a gold pedestal lined with a banner panel from Minted’s Sparkle Everywhere collection for added contrast. Sitting in front of the cake were graduation cap sugar cookies decorated in white icing and accented with edible gold dust, sitting atop black Sixlet candies for added pop.

Seated guest tables were draped in black pintuck tablecloths, dressed up with paper table runners and white roses in clear glass, gold confetti vases. Simple and elegant.

To ensure that candid photos from the evening were captured, we incorporated this fun Instagram signage on the main dessert table with #Marley2016. Guests were encouraged to take home glassine partyfavor bags filled with black Sixlets candies, displayed in a black graduation hat.
