Orange “Cutie” Themed Baby Shower

You are in for a TREAT today with this Cutie Baby Shower designed by Ashley Lloyd  of Attention 2 Detail Events. It just does not get much cuter than a CUTIE themed shower! I love original and creative baby shower themes. Ashley shared with us the inspiration for the theme, “The mom-to-be didn’t want to find out the sex of the baby (how often does that happen these days?!) so it was fun finding a theme and color scheme that didn’t lean towards one gender more than another. I had the idea of having a “Little Cutie” theme after walking through the produce aisle in the grocery store, and lucky me(!) the mom-to-be’s sister loved the idea! We went with a bright orange and green color scheme for the event. I kept everything orange related from the food, decor, and even the invite.”

The invitations are one of my favorite details of this shower. Created by Heather of Chickabug, Ashley embellished them by added green and orange ribbons to give it more of a “country” feel.  She did a great job of giving the event a “fresh from the orchard” feeling.

Ashley created a juice bar where guests were served virgin “Tangerita’s” and ice water. She even dressed up the ice cubes by freezing slices of Cuties in them! How clever.  She also tied little “Organic” tags onto the drink stems. She topped the table with astro turf  purchased from the local home improvement store and added some empty Cuties boxes  from the grocery store to use as risers to add height to the table.

Another favorite of mine are the CUTIE letters she added to the back of the juice bar. She used chipboard letters and covered them with various pieces of orange scrapbook paper. Ashley shared more details of the table, “For the table, I used orange dinner plates and green napkins for contrast. I used Cuties as place cards, using leaves with guests’ names printed on them. I had a local flower shop created centerpieces using Cuties and orange roses. They turned out gorgeous! The menu’s were created by Heather from Chickabug. For the main centerpiece on the table, I found dead tree branches, potted them using rocks as filler in the container, and then adorning the branch with the same leaf cutouts, green polka dot ribbon, and hanging Cuties, using christmas tree ornament hangers, to create a small, child-like orange tree. It turned out so cute!”

“I also created a dessert table, featuring Orange cupcakes, orange cake pops, and Orange cookies. I wanted the table to feel a little bit like a fruit stand. The cupcakes were made by the mom-to be’s sister-in-law but we topped them off with edible sugar leaves to replicate oranges. I purchased the cake pops from Heavenly Cake Pops. Heather from Chickabug also created the little “Fresh Squeezed” cake pop tags. The cookies were ordered from The Cookie Jar. They created large oranges and also orange slices. I put them into green plastic berry baskets that I lined with green checked tissue paper. Again, I topped the table with more astro turf, empty Cuties boxes, and another orange flower arrangement.”

Guests were served various orange flavored food including “Cutie” salad with fennel, feta, and honey citrus dressing, Orange ginger chicken with orange salsa, but the cutest thing that was served were the Cutie kabobs, which were served with honey mint yogurt dip. They were created using Cutie slices, strawberries, and mint leaves.
