Alice in Wonderland Party
Avery in Wonderland Party
When creative, child photographer, Laura McPhail of Chikadeez Photography set out to design her daughter’s first birthday party, she decided on an “Alice in Wonderland” theme with a shabby chic twist. Laura said “I bought an old version of the book and used the old artwork for her invitations.” I love the invitation as well as all the “pink and pearls“!
Laura used an old hand crocheted table cloth that her grandmother made which I think is such a neat addition to the party! Chocolate dipped marshmallows on sticks were served with lemondrop candies in apothecary jars! Chocolate dipped strawberries were served on blue and milk glass stands – these are darling! She decorated with a handmade flag banner with pearl garland, a pom pom garland on fishing line, a decopaged A for Avery, pink tulle wrapped around her high chair, pink and red rose petals lined the sidewalk, and darling “drink me” tags! (She bought tags from JoAnns that were stained in tea, then stamped a stopwatch in brown ink on one side and “drink me” stamped on the other side.)
Avery’s custom dress came from Sweet Plume! I adore this dress! She bought a top hat for toddlers online and then glued a pink tie to it (for her mad hatter brother) – so cute! Laura said, “I found a green blazer at Goodwill and glued rhinestones to the lapel, stitched an M and H to the other lapel (for mad hatter), then took pieces of old ties and stitched those to the elbows.” Such a perfect addition to the Alice in Wonderland theme!
One of my favorite children’s parties this year! I am working with a darling client on a shabby chic/vintage party, and this party provided me lots of inspiration – I hope you enjoyed it as well!

I so wish my girls were little again just to throw this party. I love the sweet and soft details for Avery’s party.
Ashley – I agree! I’ll be 26 in November, and part of me thinks — screw it, I’m throwing myself a pastel pink girly vintage party :)
