Vintage School Themed 1st Birthday

This party takes me back to grade school with No. 2 pencils and little school desks! Audrey of Sweet Cheeks Tasty Treats designed this special birthday party for her daughter, Harper. So many special touches bring back the grade school days from the Dick and Jane paper dolls to the little ABC blocks. Audrey shared that once she decided on the Vintage School Theme, she was able to find props for the party everywhere from Etsy to eBay. She shares more of her inspiration + party details below!

PRINTABLES & DECORATIONS

Audrey contacted Anders Ruff Custom Designs to make adorable invitations, bookplates, thank-you tags, tent cards and party logos. She found vintage-inspired pennant straw toppers and paper straws from Fort andField.  “I contacted Jessica to request the sayings on the tags be personalized to go with the party. Theyturned out SO super cute! I used them on the straws and to decorate the Apple Pencil Cake Pops.” <– We agree, love them!

“The vintage-style Alphabet garland and pennants used to decorate the highchair came from Pretty LittleStudio. I love that I can use them as decorations now that the party is over too!”

BACKDROP DETAILS

“The backdrop we used for the dessert/cake table is a large piece of particle board that was sprayed with chalkboard paint. I decorated using fun Tissue Poms I bought locally from Kate Ford. I also made the fabric bunting/garland that is hanging on the backdrop. I found a group of vintage quilt blocks made out of old feed sack material and cut into them with pinkers. Disclaimer: I don’t sew. This bunting isn’t goingto win any awards for technical skill…but in the end I think it turned out cute and got the job done.” (We think you did a fantastic job!)

FAVOR BAGS

“The Favor bags for the kids included flashcards, a small board book, candy (so they could continue thesugar high at home) and super cool, customized Alphabet Crayons made by Touch of Pink! I requested10 sets of the letters ABC and told her the colors I would like. For a minimal charge, she even individuallybagged them for me, so super cute….plus I didn’t have to attempt to make them myself ;)”

DESSERTS

Audrey is quite the baker so she made all the dessert table goodies! She even created a TUTORIAL for the APPLE PENCIL CAKE POPS over on her site! The birthday cake is just gorgeous – the roses are perfect! She got the inspiration from this tutorial on i am baker.
