Vintage Shabby Chic 1st Birthday Party
Vintage Shabby Chic 1st Birthday Party
This is a post I have been excited to write for MONTHS. I designed this darling little girl’s 1st birthday party in a vintage/shabby-chic theme. Little Charlie’s Mom, Susan, asked for my help, and I couldn’t have been more pleased to turn her vision into a reality. Through the summer, we pinned down every detail from sandwich flags to cake colors, and I’m excited to finally share the pictures!
Susan came to me with an overview of various pictures she loved, aspects of a party she wanted, etc. We worked through versions of a vintage/shabby-chic feel until I was able to pin down exactly what she wanted and turn it into this gorgeous party! Prop-shopping for darling Charlie was a blast. Every time I walked through a craft store, I found a new aspect to add to the party to make it unique and special for Susan and her family. From finding the perfect lace ribbon or embellishing a shadow box, designing this party has been one of the highlights of the year for me.
Susan decided on a coral/pink and aqua color scheme with pops of golden yellow. She also knew she wanted to have a dessert table as the main focus but also serve some “regular” food as well. With these details, I hit the ground running and helped Susan turn it into Charlie’s special party! Susan did such a fabulous job as well, and I’m one proud party designer – I walked her through the table set up and she rocked it! :)
With a fabulous team of vendors at my hands, I tapped some great designers to help with various aspects of the party. The vendor list can be found at the end.

Thank you, Susan, for the sweet words! ” I had all of these ideas for my daughter’s 1st birthday party, that were all over the place, but had no way to execute them. Courtney sculpted my vision far beyond my wildest dreams. Instead of squeezing me into a mold of parties that she has thrown or seen in the past, she guided and shaped my ideas into a reality. Although Courtney lives almost 1000 miles away, she was with me every step of the way. Through countless emails and brainstorming sessions, she helped me create one of the most memorable parties. My friends and family are still talking about it!! Courtney is truly in a class of her own and there is no way I could have done it with out her.”
This is absolutely, incredibly adorable! The details are too sweet!

This is so beautiful.
You have a wonderful eye for detail and style.
Congratulations!
Just saw your party over at TomKat and had to stop by to say…..OH MY GOSH. You know, ’cause I’m a girl of very descriptive terms, and all. Seriously. That photography is amazing. Let’s just get that out of the way. And how refreshing is a non-fondant cake? I just think the simplicity of that flower on the white one is AH-MAZ-ING! I gotta say though, for some reason, the sandwich flags are just calling to me. Their little edges, and names…..oh my….every detail is divine! So great. Really.
Absolutely love this! Where did you find the vintage high chair? I would love to do this theme for my baby’s 1st birthday!!
This is just a beautiful party – from the photography through to the details, perfect. Would love to share it on my blog (crediting your lovely self of course) – but thought I should check if that’s ok first. Again, divine party!
would you be willing to sell the things from your party?? I dont have time to plan a great party for my little girl bc my husband and I work so much but I want a wonderful bday party for her and I LOVE what youve done.. Please let me know!!!
I am in love! Simply ravishing! Wonderful job, Courtney.
Courtney,
I stumbled across this party by googling shabby chic birthdays. My daughter too is named Charlie and we are doing the same thing. Her room is shabby so I figured why not carry it into her 1st birthday as well. Thank you so much for your beautiful party as it has given me great inspiration for my Charlie’s birthday. You are truly talented and wish you the best!
Fabulous job Courtney!! Love the cakes… they work perfectly with the shabby chic look!! You’re one clever lady!
Hi Courtney:
I absolutely think Vintage Shabby Chic is so very feminine, and beautiful way to celebrate a special time. I would love for you to design a table for an event I have in February along this same line.
Courtney-
i saw this blog and am doing the same theme for my daughters first birthday in July! (we live in a house built in 1917 and i thought it would be perfect!)
looking over your pictures, i have actually ordered some of the things i see and was wondering if you could help guide me through her party…? what is your charge? this really is fabulous and i hope that Jordyn’s party comes across as beautifully
HI! Love your vintage theme! Soooo sweet:)
Was wondering the color of the tulle around the cake plate? blue????
Do u think a pink ruffle cake would look good with the magenta flower on the side of the cake?
thanks
Where can I order sandwich flags and banner for vintage girl party from? I tried to follow links but kept getting sent back to main page.
I really like this. Shabby Chic is definitely a type of Feng Shui, giving a stress
free, soft and feminine feel. A very loving way of decorating making people want to come
in and relax, that is why it can also be known as the cottage feel.
