A Patchwork Wedding

Kyrie Howard’s wedding has so many absolutely delightful touches that I knew I HAD to share it with you! Finding most of her inspiration on Once Wed (a great resource for the bride-to-be), she was able to infuse both her own artistic ideas with her husband’s ideas as well! Both of them are very artistic – and you can tell! This wedding is so unique! Kyrie was looking for a completely laid back look and she made me laugh, she said she wanted people to be able to sneeze and trip without feeling embarrassed at all.  She definitely achieved a laid back look but did not lose one ounce of beautiful elegance!

Opting out of the “cutting of the cake”, Kyrie and her groom had friends bring pie and had a dessert table with all the pies as well as cupcakes.  Set up around the reception were little corners for people to sit and chat. She used tablecloths and vintage fabrics to create these neat hideaway lounge spots! She tied together this patchwork look with the cupcake flags that were “patchwork-coded” for flavors. She and her sister-in-law made them all themselves! I love DIY touches.

Here are a few other touches to the wedding as told by Kyrie, “My cousin, Kiko hand-folded 400 white paper cranes in the couple months leading up the wedding and all my bridemaids spent a couple days stringing them. My sister, Sienna, and I created big, handpainted grey & white banners for each ‘station’ –because they were just, well, cute and pointed people in the right direction. “Food” “Sweets” “Drinks” and a big banner saying “Say Hello” at the guest book table.”

Having a glow as the evening turned to night was very important for Kyrie so she had dozens of tiny lights and candles. Kyrie’s father hand-stamped (every letter of EVER name!) of every guest (220!) which were clothespinned on a couple of strings that were hunt near the tent. I adore this! What a sweet father of the bride. Kyrie was definitely successful in achieving the non-matchy but absolutely beautiful look for her wedding!

  2. courtney,
i’m kyrie’s dad. as this wedding unfolded it’s hard to describe what a transformational experience it was for me. as the moment approached i was becoming fearful of being in the spotlight, but everything melted away into sheer joy as i first layed eyes on my beautiful daughter. i was caught up in the celebration and fun and became just one more happy attendant. this was one of the most creative and beautiful events i’ve ever been involved in. thank you so much for presenting it to your fans in such a wonderful way.
    kind regards,
    damien howard
