Adult Birthday Party Ideas for the Guys!
UPDATE: If you’re looking for more birthday party ideas for your guy, then grab my new book because you’re going to find a whole chapter devoted to them!
I have to admit, for a site devoted to entertaining, we’ve left the guys in the dust. Sure, I’ve featured a few guy parties (even one for my own husband) but not nearly enough! What’s a girl to do when she wants to throw a fun bash for her beau? So I’ve decided to share my absolute favorite adult birthday party ideas for the guys! From cocktails to party food, these ideas are all fabulous! I personally love the “Bluegrass & Bourbon Birthday” and “Gourmet Burger Bar” but you take a look and pick faves for yourself! And look for more adult birthday party ideas coming your way soon…
Bloody Mary Bar
Set up a DIY bloody mary bar! This party table is especially fabulous for breakfast or brunch parties. Wouldn’t this be a cool idea for a tailgate birthday during football season in the fall? All-year round, truly. Set out all the mix-ins like olives, bacon, and celery! Cute straws definitely give it that festive party touch. I especially love the chalkboard sign at the back of the table! Create your own or have one designed (Etsy is a great place to find designers).
Bluegrass and Bourbon Birthday
It can be hard to find a neat birthday idea for the guys. This “Bluegrass + Bourbon Birthday Party” doesn’t miss a beat. I absolutely love all the details from the Bourbon and Cigar Bar to the classy “Mark is Forty” details in navy. It is possible to have a stylish party for a guy, friends! Navy, hunter green, and dark jewel tones are great for keeping “guy’s parties” from looking too youthful. I love how Jenny chose wooden, white, and silver serveware. This party is such an inspiration! Click through below to see more, it’s amazing!
Cheers to 40 Years
Beer tasting and snacks galore! I love that the beer glasses were also party favors (I did this at my husband’s birthday one year). Pencils and beer tasting notes filled each glass. Chalkboard table runners on a burlap tablecloth created a fabulous place to write notes like “Bottoms Up!” and “Eat Drink and Be Merry!”. You can also use chalkboard table runners to label food and drink options. It’s inexpensive and perfect for adult birthdays. This party didn’t stop at beer! There was even a “Make Your Own Mojito” station. Food and drink stations are my favorite types of party tables.

I don’t know one guy that doesn’t love tacos! It’s the perfect backyard “food station” idea too! Set out all the fixings like beans, cheese, lettuce, tomato, etc. Let party guests and the birthday boy build their own delicious tacos. Create a signature margarita to serve up too! Make it a fun one like a spicy jalapeno margarita or a peach fuzzy navel margarita! I know my husband loves hot sauce so a taco bar wouldn’t be complete without a separate hot sauce station with lots of options! Get creative and style up a fun ‘menu’ to print out listing out all the toppings and margarita options.

Here is the party I threw for my husband (just dating at the time), mentioned above! It was a “Whitmore Brew Bash”. Please forgive my quality of photos (I’ve gotten a lot better since then, haha) but I did love this party! We served chicken wings, mini mac and cheese cups, Guinness chocolate cupcakes, and an amazing beer mug cake. I used beer labels to create my own food labels.

Gourmet Burger Bar
Plan your party all around the grub – burgers, to be exact! Set up a gourmet burger bar with all the toppings from the obvious (cheese, lettuce, tomato) to the unusual (pineapple rings, hummus, etc)! Let the birthday party guests build the ultimate burger to their liking. I love this idea because it’s easy to do in the backyard or on a patio/deck plus it’s casual! No fuss, simply good food.
A Dapper Scotch Party
I celebrated my husband’s birthday with a dapper gentleman’s scotch birthday dinner! Wooden letters, wooden serving pieces, lots of scotch, and dapper party details set the stage for one heck of a night!
Jack and Coke! What better way to serve up this classic party beverage than mini Jack Daniels bottles tied onto Coca-Cola bottles? Add on a striped straw too! I love this idea from Les Petits Presents!
I often find lots of party inspiration in invitations. The color schemes and font styles can help set the stage for your party. For instance, a rustic brown invitation might lend towards burlap table coverings while a black and white invite is perfect for white serveware on black tablecloths. You can use it as a guide for styling! Below are a few of my current favorite guy’s adult birthday party invitations.
Gifts For Your Guy
With a birthday comes finding the perfect birthday GIFT for your guy! Well here are a few of my faves!
Hot Sauce Book! My husband loves hot sauce so this is a great gift! Pair it with a “hot sauce bar” for his birthday party!
Beer Making Kit! Especially if you’re having a brew themed party, a beer making kit is the perfect gift for your beer-loving guy! Especially if he likes to “tinker” and make things, then you might be introducing him to his new favorite hobby!
