Oscar Decor & Activities

So last week we covered cocktails and invitations for The Oscars, this week we’re talking about Academy Awards activities and decorations! Fabulous cocktail recipes are great, but presentation is everything. We’re going to show you a few tips for setting up a stylish Oscars bar and table (and stay on budget!).

If you happen to have a solid red tablecloth (leftover from the holidays or Valentine’s), it would be a perfect time to whip it back out to dress your Oscars table! If not, solid black or even white will be fine! Next, set up a popcorn station with red and white striped popcorn tubs! I recently grabbed some from Target, but if you can’t find them, Amazon has some as well!

Prop up Director’s Clapboards among framed black and white pictures of famous movie stars! Use frames you already have around your house and print off the movie pictures! This year, I think I’ll print scenes from some of the nominated Best Picture movies like The Black Swan and True Grit!

Gold Metallic Star Confetti, Gold Star Confetti

Scatter your table with gold, red, or black foil stars like these gold metallic ones from ShinDigz! Confetti is an easy way to add pops of shine and color.

If you want a DIY confetti option, use a hole punch and some gold or red paper to create your own in seconds! Glittered paper from a craft store looks great when you punch out your own confetti!

I’ll be hanging red tissue paper fans like these from Shop Sweet Lulu and mixing them with large gold foiled stars!

Red Tissue Paper Pom-Poms would also be a very easy DIY idea for hanging decor!

I also ordered red/white striped candy cups and napkins from Shop Sweet Lulu to keep with the “movie” and popcorn theme!

Now that you have invitations out, cocktail recipes ready, and lots of great decoration ideas – you need fun activities for guests while viewing The Academy Awards!

The fabulous “How About Orange” updated her popular Oscar Bingo for 2011! Download and print twelve different bingo cards. Give one to each of your party guests and race to see who can mark off five squares in a row! Have a prize for the winner such as a stash of movie candy.

We shared with you Twig & Thistle’s downloadable Oscar invites in our last post, and now we’re ooh-ing and aah-ing over her ballots too! Have guests fill out their votes and tally up the scores at the end of the night! CLICK HERE to visit Twig & Thistle to get your ballot!

Stay tuned, there is more! We’ll be sharing some delicious OSCAR DESSERT RECIPES that you’ll want to make all year round so stay tuned!
