Setting the Christmas Table: Nutcracker Style!

Christmas is the perfect time to try your hand at setting a beautiful tablescape for  holiday meals. Today, we’re sharing a traditional take on the season with a nutcracker themed tablescape incorporating rich reds and golds!

Setting the Christmas Tablescape with Southern Charm!

This reminds me of the type of tablescape that would be perfect in a mountain house for the holidays, don’t you think? It’s cozy, vibrant, and full of nutcracker charm.

My Mom is the mastermind behind this pretty holiday table so I look forward to sitting down to enjoy it over the season with my family. I gifted her these darling nutcracker plates a few years ago and she loves pulling them out each Christmas.

They are from Williams-Sonoma who has since changed the style though this year’s holiday plates are equally as beautiful! It looks like you can still find the nutcracker plates on Replacements, Ltd!

Let’s dive in to a few of my top tips for setting the Christmas table!

  • Pick a color scheme! Whether it’s natural greens and silvers or vibrant red and gold, narrowing it down to a couple of colors helps keep your tablescape cohesive.
  • Mix it up! Whoever said you can’t have shimmer with plaid? A shimmery gold table runner adds a festive touch to a patterned tablecloth. Too much pattern? Then flip it around and pair a patterned runner on a solid tablecloth or directly on the table.
  • One of the quickest and easiest ways to add holiday charm to your Christmas table is adding in greenery! Greenery and pinecones add a natural element to the table and a beautiful base for glowing candles!

  1. I love this theme. I have had a nutcracker theme for the last couple of years on my Christmas table. I collect german nutcrackers and this was a way to highlight some of my favorites. I had never seen the nutcracker plates, but created a similar feel with a white plate with gold trim and a snowflake salad plate from Walmart. I found very cute petite nutcrackers at TJMaxx that made a cute place card holder for a steal. I am inspired to order table runners for this year to add even more sparkle this year.

    1. Michele! How fun! You’re like me, finding the perfect touches at every different store to pull it all together! Excited that you’re going to add some sparkle this year! :)

  2. Where did you get your tablecloth? It matches my draperies and couch pillows perfectly!
