With July 4th around the corner (I know, how is already time for July 4th!?), I wanted to share a little party table inspiration and of course, a recipe perfect for your celebration – cast iron apple pie! We’ve made this apple pie a few times now, and it truly is amazing. I will never buy a store-bought apple pie again. This recipe is really so easy and absolutely incredible. It has a brown sugar base underneath the pie crust that adds an almost toffee-like flavor. Words can’t even do it justice, you have to make this pie!

First a little party table inspiration! (Don’t worry, that cast iron apple pie recipe is down below). You might recognize that centerpiece frame from my little girl’s 1st birthday party! We always try to recycle party elements when we can and these centerpieces are so versatile for year-round celebrating. We filled it with various holly and boxwood leaves and filled with American flags. I absolute love the result! It’s perfect for a patriotic party. A red and white striped tablecloth carried on the theme topped with royal blue plates and striped red and white dessert plates.

If you want to make a similar centerpiece, head to the hardware store for a few items!

  • Wood molding (white) cut down to your size preference (two small end pieces and two long side pieces)
  • Lattice in the same sizes as your molding
  • wood glue
  • Styrofoam or floral foam

Glue together your molding to create the base frame for your centerpiece. Surround your frame with lattice that’s been cut down to the same sizing. You can use hot glue or a super glue to adhere it to the molding. Fill your frame with styrofoam or floral foam. Now fill with your preferred flowers, leaves, decor!

Now on to that PIE! My husband has already requested it again this weekend. It’s so easy and simple that I can’t say no. The hardest part is waiting for it to bake because it smells so good! Note, you can alter the amount of brown sugar underneath the first pie crust. We tried 3 cups and found it to be a little thick but 1 cup didn’t seem to be enough for us. I think 2 cups is the perfect amount because it caramelizes underneath the pie crust to form this crispy, chewy, delicious hidden surprise!

Cast Iron Apple Pie, out of this world good!

    Thank you!!

    1. Hi Annie! Thank you so much! The tablecloth is just a striped fabric we found. I believe from JoAnns here in Nashville. The plates were from HomeGoods.
