It’s a “Super Shower” Baby Shower!

Coming off the heels of this Wonder Woman Birthday Party, it seems only fitting to share a baby shower twist on the “super hero” party! Submitted to us by Jessica Bender, this baby shower has it all from pie and push-up pops to the bomb treats and fruit skewers! How cute is a super hero themed baby shower? As told by Jessica Bender. “One of my best friends, Megan, is expecting her first child, and I am so excited for her and her husband Brendon. This baby, who will be named Isaac, is going to be so loved :) I have been planning this shower almost as long as these two have been married. I’ve know that it was going to be something “super” lol. Brendon and Megan are comic book fans, actually, Isaac’s nursery is super hero themed. I had so much fun with the Wondermom and Superbaby theme. I wanted it to be “comic bookey” but also soft and feminine like the mama to be.

The theme started with the invitation, which I created to look like a mini comic book. I had so much fun creating it! I also made water bottle labels, and party game sheets to match. I had designed some mini comic book menu cards, but unfortunately, they ended up being a little too cluttered on the table- next time I need a bigger table!

My inspiration for the table scape, the decorations behind it, and menu, came from Superman’s life. The left side is meant to represent Krypton, the middle is his time on the farm in Smallville with his adoptive parents, and the right represents his life in Metropolis. I used Daffodils which mean “new beginnings” their vibrant yellow colour fit so well with the party’s primary colour palette.

My nieces helped me a ton with all the crafts. We decoupaged Superman comics onto pickle jars, and rimmed them with ribbon to make planters for the live daffodils. We cut little paper flags from comic book paper for the paper straws, and small Superman comic circles to paste on top of the washi tape for the milk bottles. We created both triangle and circle bunting, by cutting out the shapes, punching holes, and connecting them with ribbons. I placed fabric into embroidery hoops, and cross stitched a tiny “I” for little Isaac. I also wrapped a store bought wooden letter “I” with green yarn. We spent a few afternoons painting, glue gunning, cutting, taping, measuring, collaging and ribbon tying. I could not have got this all done without Emma and Madison! Little Isaac himself was even there in his first ever portrait, an ultrasound taken at 18 weeks (the framed image above the lemonade dispenser).

Smallville- raspberry pie pops, rainbow fruit skewers, “make your own hero” sandwiches.
Metropolis- raspberry cake bombs, up up and away push up pops, Jimmy Olsen pasta salad, macaroons, cupcakes.
Menu inspiration came from things that I have seen on Pinterest, and Pizzazzerie (push up pops).
