Brooke’s Top Party Ideas

My Top Party Ideas
When I start to plan a party, I love coming up with creative new ideas that are specially tailored for the personality of the guest of honor: the birthday boy or the birthday girl. After all the day really is all about him or her, right? Two of my favorite party ideas are a really edgy, hipster Typography Party + a classic, preppy Vineyard Vines Party.
Being a Graphic Designer, I adore the idea of a Typography Party! It’s such a unique way to celebrate. The host of this party was to no one’s surprise, a Graphic Designer determined to share her love for typography with all of her friends. The party was filled with delightful surprises and typographical fun. People dressed up in costumes playing on the idea of a “Serif Sherrif” and fox and dog costumes inspired by the fill-text,“the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog” + the host sent a letter with each guest’s invitation and asked that he or she decorate it and bring it along to the party to add a personal touch to the decorations. The party was complete with a Mac PhotoBooth, for hours of fun!
Or, if typography doesn’t suit your fancy, I am completely obsessed with the idea of a Vineyard Vines Party! What a darling way to celebrate any occasion! {baby showers, graduation parties, first birthdays, or fortieth birthdays}
Here are some fabulous starters to get your preppy ideas flowing. Guests can dress in Vineyard Vines attire and enjoy sugar cookie favors, lemonade and games of croquet and badminton. Bow ties and neck ties can be used as decoration. Set up a station where guests can decorate ties with whatever wishes they want to send the special boy or girl.
I love the idea of carving the watermelon into the shape of whale. Another thought is to serve whale shaped cheese snacks. Keeping to the iconic Vineyard Vines style, make sure to use lots of pink and navy blue whales + fun pastel patterns everywhere!
One of my favorite blogs to draw inspiration for baked goods is from Tee & Cakes, a small bakery, print shop + event venue based in Boulder, Colorado. I love their edgy designs and fun ideas for different cakes and cupcakes. They even make a specialty Chocolate Bacon cupcake!
