Empty Nester’s Party: DIY Omelette Bar!
Know of any Empty Nesters?! Laura Harper and her siblings hosted an Empty Nesters PARTY for their parents! “After 35 years of marriage, my parents are finally empty nesters! All 6 kids outta the house. Kind of a bitter-sweet thing. We’re a close family, always had friends over, usually someone always home…. would be weird to go to an empty, quiet house after that. My sil came up with the grand idea of doing an Empty Nester’s party for them. I excitedly volunteered to host it, and had all sorts of ideas run through my head. My favorite part is, after weeks of planning, seeing everything come together as I put it up!”
To stick with the theme of “empty nesters”, they decided on an “EARLY BIRD” breakfast. Clever + CUTE!
The idea of a DIY omelette bar is such a fabulous one for any party! Guests can choose their own mix-ins and it makes for an easy + cute set-up! Set out toppings like salsa, ham, mushrooms, onion, spinach, etc! Delish!
Decorations at the party included feathers, empty nests, a gift for the parents (Chicken Soup for the Empty Nesters Soul). I love how Laura spray painted mason jars a pretty teal blue. This is a great DIY for adding pops of color!
Sweet Laura is offering up the printables from this party.. for FREE! Head to her blog here + scroll on down.Â
Oh how I love the beautiful display of the omlette bar! What a nice way to give back to parents!!
I love Laura’s blog! She is so creative, her parties are some of my favorites!
Such a great idea! Where did you get the straws?
love the punny empty nest egg theme. everything looks so eloquent and amazing
Love the concept. We write a lot about throwing a party on our own blog but this one I like. Good job with depicting the concept and the pretty photos.
Thinking of incorporating this idea into my wedding reception as an early brunch wedding. My question is, who cooks the omelettes? Would you hire someone or do guests cook their own?
I’m now a single empty nester. I would love to throw a party. Can you provide me with the print outs for this cute party idea.
I’m updating one of my older posts and would like to link to this post. It will be a do-follow linking back to this page if that is ok. :)
Sure!
