Christmas Tablescape Tips and Tricks

Set a Christmas Tablescape

The holidays have arrived, and I’m embracing my love for gold yet again this season. So start planning your guest list and menu (these Christmas party foods will help) and let’s throw a party!

I recently shared a holiday table with lots of pretty greens and reds here, but I also love white and gold together during the Christmas season! It reminds me a bit of a “white winter wonderland” and though we rarely get snow in Nashville, at least the dining room can be set for the occasion. :)

I had been eyeing these gold cheetah plates for months before I snagged them on a Black Friday sale. I can’t wait to use these year-round, but I knew exactly how I wanted to use them for my Christmas tablescape this year. I placed them on top of my favorite go-to white dinner plate.

The gold chargers are a favorite of mine. I’m often asked where they came from, but sadly, I snagged them at a little hole-in-the-wall shop in Amsterdam two summers ago. So I’m not much help there, but I’ve found some similar looking ones from Sur La Table that are equally as beautiful!

Boxwood Wreath Christmas

I love adding these mini boxwood wreathes to the back of my dining chairs! I have used them for several tablescapes, and it’s easy to change out the ribbon to match your decor. This ribbon came from!

At each place setting, I used magnolia leaves with a gold marker to create simple place cards. I don’t have calligraphy-level handwriting by any means, but it can still very pretty and easy to create. I love a personalized touch, especially during the holidays.

I used extra magnolia leaves, pine and holly throughout the centerpiece of the table which was created by gathering all my gold and silver trees together for a festive tablescape “runner”. These were literally cut from my own yard, so setting a gorgeous table doesn’t have to be an expensive venture!

Another tip I have is lighting! I added a few candles and votives in as well as twinkle lights. These are the exact twinkle lights I use! They add the perfect festive touch and kids love them. Adults too. ;)

You can certainly recreate this table with your own holiday decor. You could use shorter trees (which does make it easier to chat across the table), a collection of holiday candles, or other festive decor. I just wanted to show you what a little gold and greenery can do when pulled together. I think it looks magical! George, my pup, also agrees.
