Blakely’s Big Girl Room Reveal!

We recently transitioned our daughter from her baby nursery to a big girl room in her favorite color combo: pink and orange! Read on for more details on her big girl room, girl room decor, etc!

Big Girl Room Reveal

Girl Room Details

Thank you all for your patience in posting Blakely’s big girl room reveal! The room took some time to come together as I collected pieces along the way and the past year has been wildness! But alas, the reveal is live!

I’m so excited to share her room with you. It’s one of my favorite spaces in our home, and I love how vibrant and cheery it is – just like my sweet B!

Pink and Orange Bedroom

Many of the pieces are unique finds or no longer sold, BUT I’ve tried to give links for those still available and similar finds for others if you love the look and want to recreate in your own home.

Blakely LOVES pink and we fell in love with the Lilly Pulitzer Bazaar print on her shams and bench. We let that be the “guiding” fabric for her room. So you’ll see LOTS of pinks, corals, and oranges. It’s preppy and feminine, just like B!

GIRL ROOM STORAGE:

  • The room is well-used and loved so you’ll see toys, a doll-house, baskets for stuffed animals, etc.
  • I tried to hide the clutter by utilizing all white storage pieces and simple baskets and bins. She has a dresser drawer for clothes beside her bed and a nightstand that also serves as extra storage.
  • In all realness, no, her books won’t stay all rainbow-ordered for long, but it’s pretty for a minute, right? However, I do think having an “order” or place for everything makes clean up easy (for adults and kids).

Girl Room Reading Nook

This sweet space is one of my favorites. It’s a quiet little space that serves as a reading nook and playhouse area. During the Christmas holidays, the doll-house gets moved to the other side of her room and her Christmas tree goes here. This is probably my favorite space in her room!

Girl Room Drapes

The drapes were the big splurge for Blakely’s room. But I love how they bring the room together. They’re Bukhara in pink and orange from Peter Dunham.

Pink Bustle Bench

More Girl Room Decor

I reupholstered my Grandmother’s bustle bench to a sweet and simple pink and topped with a monogrammed pillow.

Girl Room Art

Hanging above it is a picture of a Charleston single house with a pink door that I love (see picture below). Here is a very similar art print of the same house. I grew up in downtown Charleston, by the battery, so we’ve woven in Charleston elements throughout her room.

Tradd Street Pink Door Art Print

Speaking of Charleston touches, my former intern C. Brooke Ring is an incredible southern artist who painted a beautiful Rainbow Row piece for Blakely’s room as well.

It’s just darling and the colors blend so fabulously into the pink and orange hues. You’ll spot it below above the tangerine shelves.

Sidenote: My wedding was all black and white stripes, and I just love how those topiary planters are also striped! Brooke is incredible, I highly recommend you check out her pieces.

Pink and Orange Room

The small shelves under the print are the perfect shade of orange! Here’s my tip! I had a few wallpaper samples of the elephant bazaar print from Lilly Pulitzer.

I took them over to a paint store (I believe all will do this, but the one I went to happened to be PPG) and had them color match the orange.

Then I asked for a “sample” size (super cheap) and painted a thrift store find with foam brushes and my sample paint. Total match! You could take in fabric samples, random swatches, anything!

I adore picture frames so I try to add them to her nightstands, dressers, and shelves. I pick up random pieces as I find them from places like HomeGoods, Michaels, Target, or unique finds like the buffalo check from Jaye’s Studios. I have mixed a lot of gold with hot pink and orange.

Girl Room Furniture Details

Her nightstand was a find from a local furniture store (Sprintz) here in Nashville but this one is a close copy.

The mirror above is the Palm Beach Retro Mirror in Coral from Society Social.

The floor lamp is years old and was originally silver, and I sprayed it white years ago. Never be afraid to spray paint something, it’s my favorite way to add life to something. :)

Big Girl Bedding Details

Blakely’s bed was passed down to her from her by my husband’s parents. It originally had a straight-across, low headboard, and I really wanted to give it some character, so I enlisted my friend Lizzie’s Dad (you might know Lizzie from being the cake master behind Copper Whisk Cakes who makes many of my party cakes). Her dad took a drawing I sketched of a headboard and turned it into life!

The smaller orange pillows using the Lilly Pulitzer fabric were made by Sew Susie Designs. The larger ones in the back have the Lilly Pulitzer Bazaar fabric on one side and then the “Charing Cross” by Brunschwig & Fils in pink and white on the side shown. These were custom made by an Etsy seller that is no longer in business, but I was thankful that Sew Susie Designs is also creating pillows in the Lilly print!

The smaller monogram applique pillow on her bed is from PeppermintBee! Highly recommend! She did a great job, and it’s my favorite piece on her bed. A monogram pillow adds such a finishing touch to beds!

Her sheets are Lilly Pulitzer for Pottery Barn Kids (they’re part of a collaboration so I’d snag them if you’re thinking about it, I’m not sure they’ll restock this special collection).

When we aren’t using this sheet set, we have a pink dot trim set from PBK also. Her pink dot duvet cover and corduroy quilt is also from PBK, but I don’t see them available either.

However, if I had to replace any items, I’d check their again as they have similar styles quite often. For instance, this duvet cover is a similar one. Another tip, Blakely is only 5, but sometimes I find cute items at Pottery Barn Teen as well!

Pink Bedroom

The white bamboo nightstand was a lucky find in-store at my local ‘At Home’ store. I found two similar ones though! This “Kennedy’s Kids Nightstand” is very similar looking as is this Safavieh one!  I also adore the pink bubble lamp!

Pink & Orange Rug Details

Let’s chat about her rug! I looked at tons of pink and orange rugs online. I seem to often find the same rug designs on multiple websites, and they seem to rotate and change. Currently, I am seeing her exact rug in some sizes at Rugs.com and a few small sizes at Walmart.com.

The manufacturer is Unique Looms and it’s called the “Aria”, however some websites will give the rugs their own name. For instance, Walmart is currently calling it the Kumla Aurora. Rugs.com is calling it the Delilah rug, and they have the MOST sizes available now. Long story short, those are the online retailers where I’m currently seeing her rug!

I LOVE the rug though. The colors are vibrant, and it’s super soft. I didn’t have a lot of issues with shedding either. It has enough pattern to hide future nail polish stains or other messes, which I’m sure we’ll have as she gets older. No white rugs in a kid’s room! ;)

The green boxwood B is a repurposed piece from her golf birthday “par-tee”. It is from Grandinroad (they have the cutest Boxwood items), but this wreath says no longer available, but I’m linking it here in case it comes back in stock! Here is another one, meanwhile, but I’ll keep my eye on that Grandinroad listing in case it comes back!

Dog Art Print

Another one of my favorite art pieces in her room is from a local children’s art shop Sketch & Co. The custom George print below was made with her room colors in mind, and I adore it! George is clearly a big part of our lives, and Blakely ADORES this print! Sketch & Co has the most darling art prints, you can check them out here! (Look how cute the dog prints are!)

The white bookshelf is a Target find! I love the size and the drawer at the bottom (for all her crayons, markers, etc).

Botanical Gallery Wall

I had a hard time capturing her floral gallery wall, forgive me for my photo attempts. :) However, I ADORE this wall. I’m a big “botanical print” lover so I found these bright, tropical art prints in the perfect colors. I did message the Etsy seller to ask for a crisp white background. The frames were bought (already matted) from Michaels.

Pink and Orange Kids Room

George loves to hang out in Blakely’s room! He steals all her Jelly Cat stuffed animals, but that’s another story! So glad you stopped by to check out Blakely’s room!
