Layered Mini Martini BBQ
Why must fancy food always be so fussy? Caviar. Balsamic vinaigrette infused with white truffles. Marinated Olives with Fennel. I could go on. Those are all nice, but sometimes you just want to eat your regular ol’ crowd-pleasing BBQ! Growing up in Texas as a baby then the Carolinas through high school and now Tennessee, I’ve had my fair share of barbecue. From football games to school events and family dinners to easy lunches, BBQ is always a regular sight. Makes sense. It’s delicious!
However, it’s not exactly the “prettiest” of foods. Sometimes that happens with the tastiest foods, but time to change that! Now you can serve up BBQ at fancy dinner parties, special occasions, heck – even a fancy tailgate (they exist)!
P.S. Yes, I like that Iggy Azalea song. I can’t help it!
Look for mini martini glasses at home stores. Here are the ones I used. You can absolutely use full-size martini glasses too. Begin by layering your favorite barbecue sauce down. I love a sweet and smokey sauce. Next up is your pulled pork! Here is my favorite recipe for pulled pork.
Top it with a delicious zesty cole slaw (my recipe is below) and skewer with a pickle (or even a fried pickle). I also added a drizzle of sauce on top. I found mini appetizer forks that I set down in each glass for easy “grab-n-go” style while mixing and mingling. It’s truly the perfect party food!
Pair this dish with my Creamed Corn Cornbread for the perfect meal!
Zesty Cole Slaw

- 1 cup vinegar
- 3/4 cup light oil
- 1 teaspoon dry mustard
- 1 teaspoon celery seed
- 1 tablespoon salt

I hope you’re inspired to add a little fancy to your favorite comfort foods! Even just a cute serving dish can be all you need to “pretty up” that fave food!
I saw a similar appetizer when attending a wedding last weekend. It was tipped with half of a hushpuppie!
A hushpuppie would be a PERFECT addition! Love that idea! Thanks for sharing :)
Not gonna like I enjoy that song too. I would love to “drink” up this BBQ while singing along.
Now that’s a delicious appetizer.
