Snowflake 1st Birthday Party
Snowflake 1st Birthday Party
Seems as though this is the year of the SNOW (49 out of 50 states was it?) so I had to share this darling Snowflake 1st Birthday Party with you! Margo Feldkamp, the proud Mom, shared some of her inspiration for this winter wonderland party, “When my little Sophia was born the day after Christmas, I knew immediately that birthdays were going to be a challenge from there on out. No sun-kissed, lemonade-soaked birthdays for my girl. So I set out to make her first birthday magical – in a wintery way. Since we have called Sophia our little snowflake from the day she was born, I thought it would be cute to have a Winter Wonderland party with an huge emphasis on snowflakes.”
Her house was transformed into a glittery wonderland. “To create the illusion of a Winter Wonderland, we covered all of the pictures in our house with silver, pink and glittery white wrapping paper to look like gifts. There were over 25 Christmas trees in varying sizes throughout the house including a beautiful vintage pink one in Sophia’s nursery, covered in snowflakes.”
Margo shared some details of the vintage pink high chair seen above! “I searched for months for the antique wooden high chair we used. My father stripped it down and my husband painted it the beautiful antique pink that is also used in Sophia’s nursery for her walls. The high chair will be an heirloom we can pass down someday. It is very special – especially since her Grandpa and Daddy put so much work into it.”
A delectable hot chocolate station was set up for the kids and adults with lots of yummy toppings like marshmallows, fresh cream, and crushed candy canes. To go with the hot chocolate, snowflake cupcakes were served which Margo decorated herself with glitter and paper. She said, “I used Martha Stewart’s Continuous Snowflake Punch and Martha Stewart Fine Glitter to create all of the glittered snowflake edges to the serving pieces. I probably cut out a million snowflakes and used them to adorn everything I could. Martha’s Stewart’s Fine Glitter was used on all of the lettering for the banners, Sophia’s name banner on the mantle and every where else I could think to glitter – literally!”
One of my favorite details is the darling cake topper! Margo had it custom made by Renata and Hannah of Creating From The Heart. Margo said, “They based it on a picture of my daughter. They were such a joy to work with and the topper turned out better than I could have ever imagined! It is a lasting heirloom my daughter can keep forever.”
Those sweet snowflakes you see on the cupcakes are edible! Yes, amazing! Margo tells us all about this yummy decoration. “I searched long and hard for a special way to display the cupcakes for the party. I had seen the fondant tops and the toppers but didn’t really love any of it. Then I found Lena at Sweet Deja Vu who creates edible shapes from wafer paper. She make beautifully delicate snowflakes out of silver and pearl which complimented the pink and white cupcakes perfectly! We also floated some on the hot chocolate, champagne and sugar plum fairy punch (sparkling raspberry punch). The kids really, really liked the edible snowflakes.”
The silver glitter take out boxes are the icing on the cake! Margo said, “Finally the goodie bags…I loved these gorgeous, glittery take-out boxes that I found at Michael’s! I didn’t want to fill them with the typical candy, etc. so we found blown glass snowmen ornaments that fit with the theme of her party! The boxes were filled with “snow” and an adorable little snowman topped with a pink ribbon. Each guest took home a little piece of Sophia’s Wonderland!”

Hi,
I was wondering where you gor the milk bottles from?
Hi Ladies, I’m so sorry I didn’t reply earlier to your questions! I didn’t see that there were any comments! To answer the questions (better late than never, right!?): The glitter boxes were from Michael’s. They put them out early in the Christmas season and they usually sell out fast! As for the banner and all of the rest of the paper products, I made them all. I used to do it on the side but I don’t have much time anymore. But if you email me margofeldkamp@yahoo.com maybe I can help you make it yourself. The milk bottles were from Hobby Lobby online. They came with the locking glass tops that I just removed. Please email me if you have any other questions and I would be more than happy to help! Thanks Ladies =)
How sweet! How did your party turn out!? I had to fight for Noelle to be our Sophie’s middle name. My hubby wanted Skye. What did your Sophie’s middle name end up being?
This is absolutely gorgeous! Does anybody know where to get the tags for the glitter boxes???
How did you create or purchase the cupcake toppers (pink snowflake on top of a silver swirl)? I also tried looking for the silver glitter boxes on Michaels site and cant seem to find them do you have a link or did you get them directly from the store? Everything is gorgeous…
