Celebrate the Olympics with an Appetizer Snack Board
I absolutely love watching the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games! My girls are old enough (especially my oldest) to understand more about the Olympics so they are excited to make a big snack board and watch too!
With lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, this Olympics snack board is as nutritious as it is tasty. It’s truly perfect for both kids and adults! Plus, it’s easy to assemble with your favorite snacks and charcuterie items. You can tailor it to suit your taste preferences and dietary needs.
How to Create Your Olympic Rings Snack Board:
Materials Needed:
- 5 small plates (around 7″-8″ in diameter)
- A variety of fruits, vegetables, cheeses, crackers, and chocolates in the Olympic ring colors: blue, black, red, yellow, and green.
Be sure to check below for lots of food ideas for each color!
Olympic Ring Color Food Ideas
Fill each plate with colored foods and arrange in the order of the Olympic Rings (blue, black and red on top in that order with yellow and green centered underneath).
Here are lots of food ideas for each of the 5 colors!
BLUE FOODS: This will likely be your trickiest color because many of the blue foods end up in the black food plate, but don’t fret! Let blueberries be the star of the show and add in blue wrapped chocolates, blue M&Ms, and blueberry chèvre.
BLACK FOODS: Use black grapes (like concord grapes that are very dark), blackberries, blue corn tortilla chips (these could work in the blue plate too), dark chocolate covered nuts or cranberries, raisins, prunes, dates, black olives or kalamata olives. You could also add a small bowl of balsamic glaze or blackberry jam.
RED FOODS: Load up on strawberries, raspberries, red bell pepper strips, cherry tomatoes, cherries, and rolled up slices of salami or prosciutto into rosettes.
YELLOW FOODS: Yellow cherry tomatoes, cheddar cheese slices, yellow bell pepper strips, candied pineapple, banana chips, crackers, cheese straws, etc. You could also add in a small bowl of honey here.
GREEN FOODS: This plate is the easiest! Use green grapes, sliced kiwi, broccoli, snap peas, green bell pepper strips, and green olives. You could also use green apples or pears.
PRO TIP: Tuck in mini American toothpick flags to your plates for an extra touch of TEAM USA spirit!
I hope you love this Olympic Rings Snack Board appetizer idea as much as my family! It’s a really fun appetizer idea for the kids to help with too! If you’re hosting an Olympics Viewing Party or just making a snack tray for watching the Olympics Opening Ceremony with your family, this is a tasty way to celebrate the occasion!
