As summer comes to a close, guess what season picks up? County fair season! Growing up, the county fair was one of my favorite times of year. The rides were great and the games were fun. But, it was the county fair FOOD that truly kept me going back year after year. What could beat funnel cakes, corn dogs, and of course – fried candy bars?

A yummy chocolate bar dipped into batter and flash fried — truly, what could be more ridiculous? Except that they are delicious. I didn’t believe it until I tried it. The chocolate candy bar melts inside, leaving a warm, ooey, gooey treat. I decided that there had to be a way to bring the county fair to our own kitchens.

Frying can be messy and sometimes greasy. Thus, the “oven fried” candy bar bites were born! They’re super easy and taste almost identical to their deep fried counterparts. Plus, they’re not greasy and are a lot less expensive. You can make these yummy bites year-round, because you only need an oven. Score!

Use candy bites to make oven fried desserts!

I chose Snickers, Milky Way, and Twix bites. I love that you can find your favorite candy bars in “mini” form now, because they’re perfect for making these candy bar bites. You can also cut up your favorite full-size bars. Or if you’re feeling really decadent, make a full-size oven fried candy bar! No rules when you make this treat yourself!

  • Remove from oven and dust with powdered sugar!
