Thank You For Helping Me Grow Teacher Gift

If you’re looking for an easy and charming gift idea for your child’s teacher, here’s a gardening gift idea I used this year for my youngest daughter’s preschool teachers.

I absolutely adore these teachers and wanted to make something special to remember Ivy. I’m a big advocate of gift cards for teachers too, but I like to also gift something alongside it they can enjoy right away!

Gardening Teacher Gift Idea

This gardening teacher gift idea came about because my daughter’s name is Ivy… so it hit me to do a little play on her name with a container garden gift full of various plants including variegated ivy – a favorite plant of mine! You can spot it twirled around all over her 1st birthday party here!

I created the free printable for you to use in a unique container garden like this one or even just tied around a store-bought orchid or potted plant!

You can use any type of planter or pot for this gardening teacher gift idea!

I actually found metal planters from At Home and while I actually love the before color too, I really wanted to soften them up a bit with a green paint.

I sprayed them with this Moss Green spray paint. I LOVE the color!

Rub and Buff Gold Leaf

Then, I added touches of gold with Rub ‘n Buff in Gold Leaf. I used a small cloth to help add the rub and buff on to the designs of the planter.

After I had my planters painted and gilded, it was time to PLANT! I recommend a variety of indirect light plants that are perfect for teachers to enjoy in their classroom, in their homes or on a covered porch.

I included a few plant varieties like maiden hair fern, rosemary, and variegated ivy! Considering my daughter’s name is Ivy, it was a must to include! Plus, I love how hearty it is to grow. Stores like Home Depot or Lowes often have an indoor section of ferns and mini plants!

I used wooden skewers to tape on the gift tags and added a sweet satin bow underneath. All done!

I absolutely love how these gardening gifts turned out!
