Entertaining with Pantone’s Color of the Year: Ultra Violet
Are you ready to add a pop of purple in your life? PANTONE 18-3838 Ultra Violet is the 2018 color of the year. From my experience, purple seems to be one of those “polarizing” colors. You tend to either love it or hate it. I love it, when it’s presented tastefully. Pantone took a galaxy vibe to their choice of ultra violet, but considering “galaxy desserts” took over Pinterest this year, it’s not a total shock. Let’s talk more about ways to entertain with Ultra Violet! Scroll down…
Complex and contemplative, Ultra Violet suggests the mysteries of the cosmos, the intrigue of what lies ahead, and the discoveries beyond where we are now. The vast and limitless night sky is symbolic of what is possible and continues to inspire the desire to pursue a world beyond our own.
How does all of this translate into incorporating Ultra Violet into your entertaining for the upcoming year? I’m here to help! You might not want to go all out in your quest to stay on color trend, and that’s okay. Pick an idea or two from the ones I’m sharing! Maybe it’s picking up a pretty purple cake stand or using lavender in a few cocktails this year – which is delicious by the way.
Jennifer Kathryn captured this gorgeous ultra violet tablescape with gold details. Purple pairs beautifully with both gold and silver. I love the pretty patterned tablecloth with Moroccan vibes. Can we talk about that cutlery? Gorgeous!
The Cake Merchant created the most gorgeous ombre purple layer cake. Oh my HEAVENS, can you imagine this as a beautiful birthday cake? That frosting is perfection too. If you’re timid about entertaining with ultra violet, a cake is the perfect way to present a pop of color in your party.
Host your friends for an intimate garden party with pops of pink florals. How gorgeous is this? Photographed by Tracy Enoch and featured on Style Me Pretty. If you can’t find the perfect ultra violet tablecloth, check this one on Amazon. It’s super affordable so even if you didn’t use it often, it’s a fun splurge to add color to your party!
Lavender is one of my favorite garnishes in cocktails. These lavender mint juleps are not only perfect for Derby Day or anytime you are looking for that perfect signature cocktail. There’s also a fabulous lavender cocktail in my book Pizzazzerie: Entertain In Style!
Just like the beautiful cake above, desserts are an easy way to add in ultra violet to your party. These blackberry cupcakes are an eye-catching treat that your party guests will love! See more from this summer blackberry treat table here.
Don’t limit your pops of ultra violet to sweets, however, because you can create gorgeous salads with purple hues. Beets and purple cabbage create a gorgeous “Ruby Salad” and you can find the recipe here from Farmhouse Delivery!
These calligraphy agate name cards are the absolute perfect touch of ultra violet in a party, shower, or wedding. Guests can take them home to use as decor, paper weights, etc. I love a name card that doubles as a sweet favor. Find these here on Etsy from Fox and Hart!
The Ivory Lane hosted the most gorgeous fairy garden party for her daughter! Breathtaking, right? I adore the pops of purple and that balloon garland is what my party dreams are made of. I’ve yet to tackle a balloon garland, but I’ll try to give it a whirl soon and tell you how it goes!
