With fall in full-swing, it’s also holiday entertaining season! From family Thanksgivings to neighborhood parties, there isn’t a shortage of celebratory occasions! It’s no surprise that the details are my favorite part of any party and I’m here to show you a cute and simple detail to add a touch of fall to your cocktails (or mocktails!) – DIY Acorn Drink Stirrers! My Mom actually came up with the initial idea for these and we got to work to show you how to make them (for pennies).

ITEMS NEEDED

Acorns
Wooden Skewer Sticks
Ice Pick
Shellac Spray (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS

1. If you want your acorns to have a shine to them, then first spray them with a shellac or clear lacquer. This is totally optional. Yes, you can also spray them gold (for all my gold lovers) or any color your heart desires, but we loved the natural acorn.

2. Begin by carefully poking a hole into the bottom of the acorn with an ice pick. You might not be able to get the exact center bottom of the acorn but anywhere close is completely fine. Don’t poke all the way through the other side, just start a little hole.

3. Trim your skewer stick to the height desired (if they are long skewers). Slide the skewer stick into the hole you’ve made in the bottom of the acorn until it fits snug.

4. Pop into your cocktail and ta-da!

These acorn sticks would also be great for dressing up party appetizers like cheese and other mini-eats. Simply cut the skewers a little shorter and you’re done!

I hope you’ll try this easy idea (that takes seconds and costs next to nothing) to jazz up  your fall party! If you decide to make them, you’ll have to tag me and let me know, we’d love to see!

XOXO,
Courtney
