KATIE SHARED: “I’m a huge fan of Emily Giffin, who is the New York Times bestselling author of “Something Borrowed,” “Something Blue,” “Baby Proof,” “Love the One You’re With” and “Heart of the Matter.” So, of course, I was just a tad thrilled when asked by one of my favorite Georgetown boutiques, Urban Chic, to style an Afternoon Tea Book Signing Event for Giffin’s latest summer release, “Where We Belong“.”

PARTY DECOR

“I’m a traditional kind of gal so when I hear tea party, I really envision soft, frilly, classy, girly, and vintage.

If you’ve ever noticed, each of Emily Giffin’s book covers come in a feminine pastel color of peach, purple, green, yellow, pink, blue. Using that as my inspiration, I enlisted my dear friend Lindi of Love the Day to tweak the Tea Party Printables she had designed specifically for another Petite Social event.

We settled with pale pink, cream, and a pale green (to match the green milk glass serving pieces used). In addition to the color palette chosen, I pulled out every doily, lacey, frilly, and flowery party decor I had.  And, of course, you can’t have a tea party without dusting off the good china.”

PARTY FOOD

“The dessert table was filled with mini tea time treats of apricot & ginger mini scones, vanilla & raspberry tartletts, vanilla scones, lemon crisps, and the prettiest doily wrapped cake pops!  Such a hit!  Guests also sipped on champane cocktails and southern tea time beverages.”

“The event was a huge hit.  We had more than 100 guests attend and Emily was a gracious (and gorgeous) hostess posing for pictures with each and every one of her fans.”
