Pop Rocks Rimmed Cocktails
What’s more fun for the 4th of July celebrations than fireworks, right? How about adding a little firecracker spark to your cocktails (or mocktails for the kids) this summer? How? It’s EASY! POP ROCKS!
I used to love pop rocks candy as a kid. They make a crackle sound when they hit your tongue and come in a variety of colors and flavors.
Rimming cocktails in fun candies is another way to add some pizzazz for celebrations and holidays. This is a similar idea to the nonpareil rimmed cocktails I made for my birthday this year!
How to Make Pop Rocks Rimmed Cocktails
PREP: Simply fill a shallow dish with lemon juice (or lime juice) or simple syrup.
Fill a second shallow glass with the pop rocks.
PRO TIP: If you have trouble with the pop rocks clumping or sticking, you can try dipping them in a thin layer of caramel or agave nectar.
DIP: Flip your glass of choice upside down into the lemon or lime juice. Then dip it into the bowl of pop rocks. Twist slightly to fully coat the rim of the glass.
POUR: Add ice to your glass and pour in your cocktail of choice! I love this patriotic red pomegranate margarita for July 4th because it pairs SO well with blue pop rocks for the perfect July 4th cocktail!
ENJOY! Sip sip, hooray!
You can also simply drop the POP ROCKS into your cocktail for a festive FIZZLE!
There are tons of different flavor vanities of pop rocks! So your color combos are endless. You can whip up these pop rocks rimmed cocktails for game days in your team’s colors, July 4th in red and blue, Christmas colors, so many ideas!
Check for pop rocks candy at candy stores, drug stores, grocery stores or on Amazon. For the blue color for July 4th, look for Tropical Punch or Blue Razz flavors, they’re the best options for a blue pop rocks rimmed drink!
